Welcome to Pressing Matters on Wineries.net!

Hello and welcome to Wineries.net! Now that we’ve got the site up and running with blog functionality, I am excited to begin posting about anything and everything related to wine, wineries, and the American wine industry. I am thrilled to be dealing with such an interesting topic, as I believe that one of the underrated benefits of blogging is how much you can learn when you tackle new and somewhat unfamiliar subjects.

Wineries.net features an easy-to-use directory of American wineries, and we are hoping that the site’s blog will serve as an additional resource to you by covering news items within the wine industry, updating you on worthwhile events, and suggesting wines for you to try.

The first wine-related event that I am going to post about is the Boston Wine Expo, which is set to take place on February 8-10 at the Seaport World Trade Center. See here for details about featured exhibitors, guided tastings and seminars, celebrity chefs who’ll be making appearances, and how you can purchase tickets to the event. It’s publicized as the largest trade and consumer wine event in the country, and 2008 marks the 17th year that Boston has hosted this phenomenal gathering.

Tickets are a little on the pricey side, but the cost is negligible when you consider what you’ll receive in return: the opportunity to meet with representatives from over 450 wineries and access to more than 1,800 (!!!) varieties of wine. Not a bad way to spend a Saturday or a Sunday afternoon. Over here at Wineries.net, we are counting down the days until the big event. We’re hoping to meet some great people at the Expo, taste some outstanding wines, and gather a lot of useful content to share with all of you on the site.
